In our lives, (business and personal,) we should always know: where we are going, why we are going there, and of course, how do we plan to get there? (Otherwise, we might wind up someplace else.)

The overwhelming buffet of life options paralyze us. Where to start? Welcome to the Pareto Principle, which postulates that 20% of what we do creates 80% of the value. Think about that: most of what we do creates little value! This is why we must prioritize the 20% that does.

If we combine the two questions: ‘Why am I doing something’ with ‘What creates value’, clarity emerges.

Departments in a business often operate like silos, oblivious to what others need, especially their customers.

This limiting focus must be redirected. The organization must have a unified direction and purpose. In essence, we must be one team. (And act accordingly.)

This can only happen through an alignment of the Vision, Values, and Objectives.

And then comes the hard part: actually getting something done AKA executing!
